Behind the Velvet Curtain

Behind the Velvet Curtain is a weeklong workshop for children conceived and taught by Carolina Carry and Pam Koehler. The workshop introduces children to the wondrous world of opera by offering them direct experiences in the multi-disciplinary nature of the medium. The culmination of the workshop is the viewing of the opera and the exhibition of children’s artwork. Presented in partnership with The Berkshire Music School.

Tuition per child $150/wk, Materials per child $30/wk

Family Opera Festival ’08 is a comprehensive two-day adventure designed to help families build memories and create a shared, multi-generational cultural experience. On Sunday, children and families go backstage at the Colonial for boxed lunches, tours, crafts, and workshops led by the internationally acclaimed cast and crew of Berkshire Opera’s new production of Le nozze di Figaro. They will be on-set, in the spotlight, surrounded by music, and will have family photos taken in the home of the Count and Countess Almaviva. Monday afternoon they see the full production of Figaro having spent the previous day on-stage with cast & crew.

$15 per family member. Children under 14 admitted free to the Monday matinee when accompanied by a parent, subject to availability – first come, first served. Space is limited to the first 30 children and their families. Call for reservations: 413.442.9955
