Discover the Berkshires
Please take a moment to visit our cultural partners who host our performances during the 2008 Season:
The Clark
Nestled in the Berkshires of western Massachusetts, the Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute is both art museum and research center, welcoming visitors year-round to experience its outstanding collections of European and American art in an intimate setting of profound natural beauty. Surrounded by 140 acres of expansive lawns, meadows, and walking trails, the Clark is home to exceptional examples of European and American painting and sculpture, master prints and drawings, English silver and porcelain, and early photographs. The museum is best known, however, for its extraordinary collection of French Impressionist paintings.
The Colonial Theatre
Located in downtown Pittsfield, Massachusetts The Colonial Theatre is a Gilded Age architectural gem brought back to life as a performing arts center in the “heart of the Berkshires”. Kept safe behind the temporary wall and ceiling partitions of a retail store for more than 50 years, the ornately appointed and now fully restored Colonial emerged in August, 2006 as a cultural and economic development force in the Berkshires.
Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center
The Mahaiwe Performing Arts Center marries the beauty, warmth and intimacy, of a turn-of-the-century proscenium theater, with the latest in stage technology. The Mahaiwe is a fully equipped fly house, with state-of-the-art lighting, sound and film projection technology, and professional production personnel, with years of experience working in all forms of live performance.
Ventfort Hall
Ventfort Hall is an imposing Elizabethan-style mansion built in 1893 for Sarah Morgan, the sister of J. P. Morgan. Designed by the architects Rotch & Tilden, it is located in Lenox, Massachusetts. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and declared an official project of “Save America’s Treasures,” a Millennium program of Hillary Rodham Clinton and the National Trust for Historic Preservation, Ventfort Hall is the home of The Museum of the Gilded Age.
